Studio News: December 6th, 2011

Hello Dance Friends,

Mary and I attended a Black and White ball over the weekend in Mt. Airy, NC.  If you are not familiar with the name, allow me to help you remember.  It’s the home of Andy Griffith and was known in his TV show as the town of Mayberry.

If you do not remember the show, do not worry.  It ran 1960 – 1968 and then in syndication for many years after that.  Director Ron Howard stared in the show as Griffith’s son before moving on to the show Happy Days and then into the director’s chair.

Why would we attend a Black and White ball in Mt Airy you may ask?  The main reason was that it was fun and gave us an excuse to get out of town for the weekend.  We had a great jazz ensemble playing at the event.  I hope to pass their information on to our friends at Rocky River and see if can get this band to play for us over the summer.

Speaking of dance opportunities…

A few reminders and a clarification

This Saturday December 10th from 7:00-9:00 PM, join us for a free dance social.  We will have a dance mixer featuring Merengue during the evening.  Please invite friends and family since admission is free to all attendees.

Remember that we offer gift certificates for both private and group classes.  I can’t think of a better way to share the gift of dance with someone you love.

The new class schedule for 2012 will be available at the dance and will be up on the website very soon.  We think that you will really find the first series of classes in 2012 to be very exciting.

The studio will be attending the 21st Annual Big Band Swing weekend at Grove Park Inn in Ashville, NC.  This event will be held the weekend for January 20th and 21st.  We are planning on attending just the Friday night dance this year, thought you may want to attend Saturday as well.  Please visit the Grove Park Inn website for more details and to purchase tickets:

If you plan to stay the weekend, Grove Park will have a great package, which will include tickets and meals that I think will help save you some money.   If you prefer to stay elsewhere in the area, please take a moment to check out this travel agency:

The owner is a personal friend of mine and I have found that she has really competitive rates.  I have booked my accommodations through her agency for this trip.

Have a great week and we will see you on the dance floor soon!

Thanks!
Ryan
